Show at Denton Arts Center

I hung 6 pieces at the Denton Senior Center for January -March of 2016. The reception of the work was very gratifying. One piece sold from this show. It was Elegant Elephants. Now I am working on two more pieces in that series of polka dot animals, "In the Land of the Polka Dot the Leopard is King" and "Elegant Elephants #2". The painting titled "Galloping Giraffes" started the series which is hanging at Dallas Medical's offices.

May 15th Solo Show

I just finished the third in my series of iconic images of women based on famous paintings and dotted to the fullest extent that my hands and eyes can stand. It is 60" x 36" acrylic on canvas, as are the other 2. I plan to do at least one more based on a Madonna. I have found 3 images I like and now must choose which one excites me enough that I would spend all that energy and time on. The series deals with the stereotypical roles of women that society has foisted on our gender: beauty, muse, temptress and mother. I would like to finish the last one so I can put it in the solo show this May.

Connections Exhibition at Tower Gallery in Grapevine

After graduating with my MFA in December, and surviving the holidays, the solo show at the Tower Gallery came rushing at me like a tsunami. With the help of Angelia Ford, Allison Proulx, Judy Thornton  and a couple of Judy's ex-students we got the show hung in 5 hours. The obliteration dot room took another  5 hours to do with the backdrop on the panels and the furniture which I got from the Habitat for Humanities Restore.

The reception was a lot of fun. It was like a remix of my life with people from every aspect- White High School, TWU, old friends from 40 years ago. The caterer had gone out of his way to make dotty or round food. The decorations and the tables of food looked great. It was non-stop for 4 hours.

I gave a brown bag lunch talk during the last week of the exhibition. There were not many people there, but the ones who were asked great questions.

The show was held over for another week, and then came down in less than 2 hours. I cannot wait to do this again!
